Driver Injured In Wolcott When Ice From Truck Smashes Windshield

WOLCOTT, CT — A driver was injured Wednesday when a block of ice flew off of a box truck and broke the car's windshield, according to police. A Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Wolcott Road near Wolcott Lanes at about 2 p.m.

A box truck was traveling southbound. A chunk of ice came off the truck's roof, smashing the Honda's windshield and struck the driver's face, causing several lacerations, police said.

The truck driver continued southbound on Wolcott Road, and police said it's likely the driver was not aware of the damage. Police are attempting to identify the truck and its driver.

Police reminded drivers in a Facebook post to remove snow and ice from the top of their vehicles, which is required by law.
