He then asked if his nephew was working, NBC Connecticut reported. He threatened to shoot the nephew and accused him of stealing items from him including two suits, a cane, and a cuckoo clock. Cashman said he didn't want to kill the nephew but threatened to shoot him in the leg.

Cashman's nephew wasn't at work at the time. When an employee informed him of this, Cashman thanked him and said he would return the next day.

The employee reportedly said that Cashman appeared confused and nonsensical during the encounter and did not unholster the gun.

Police later located Cashman at his Waterbury home where he was taken into custody and his gun was seized. He voluntarily surrendered his state pistol permit, according to WFSB.

Cashman was released on $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
