Man Gives False Name, Runs Out of Walmart Security Office: Police

Police are asking for help in identifying a man who allegedly tried to fraudulently return items. He may be from Waterbury, police said.

A man visited the Walmart in Waterford at approximately 2:17 p.m. April 13 and allegedly tried to conduct a fraudulent return of items totaling $67.67.

"The suspect was approached by Loss Prevention and was escorted into their office," Waterford Police said. "The suspect said his name was Etnecie Rosada with a date of birth of 7/19/88, which was a false name. While in the office the suspect got nervous, and then ran out of the office into the parking lot."

Police said the man entered a green Toyota Corolla and fled.

"The registered owner was contacted and he said the male goes by the nickname Chivy and that he is out of Waterbury or Hartford," according to Waterford Police. "However, he was seen in the New London area later that evening."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Sylvestre at 860-442-9451, ext 2256, or by email at msylvestre@waterfordct.org.
