New Morning Market hosts “December Is For The Birds” event

A collaborative effort with the Audubon Center at Bent of the River for the good of nature!

New Morning Market is partnering with The Audubon Center at Bent of the River again this year to help bring awareness and conservation efforts to local birds. “We formed a relationship with Audubon many years ago,” said John Pittari, owner of New Morning. He views the store’s longstanding relationship with Audubon as intrinsic to New Morning’s mission. “We can’t have sustainable and healthy foods without taking care of our natural environment.”

In order to support that mission New Morning Market will be donating 10% of profits for the entire month of December to The Audubon Center at Bent of the River in Southbury. They will also be selling local artist Al Erickson’s Bird Photography, 20% of his sales will also be donated to the cause.

You can visit the café area to check out his gallery of photos which are available both framed and matted. Last but not least bring the kids to a special Storytime on Saturday December 9th at 10:30am in New Morning Market’s Community Room.

Local author Andrea Vlahakis will read her book, “Christmas Eve Blizzard” and children will be able to create a pine cone bird feeder with volunteers from The Audubon Center of the Bent River.

During this season of giving New Morning Market is excited to give back to the community that has helped it grow since 1971. Stop by to help out a meaningful cause and remember when you’re shopping in December, you’re benefitting the birds. As John always says, “What’s good for the birds is good for us.”
