Nonnewaug Runner Wins State Cross Country Championship
He finished 22 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor in the Class SS meet at Wickham Park in Manchester.
MANCHESTER, CT — Senior Eddie Nicholas of Nonnewaug High School easily outdistanced the competition in winning the CIAC Class SS boys cross country championship Friday at Wickham Park.
Nicholas covered the hilly 3.1 mile terrain in 16:08, besting runner-up Heath Olivieri of East Catholic by 22 seconds.
The Chief girls placed sixth in Class M, led by a 23rd-place finish by Maddie Woodward.

The top two teams and 12 individuals from each class advance to the State Open, scheduled for Nov. 2, also at Wickham Park.
