Obituary: Delores Jean Mulhern, 86, of Middlebury

Dot welcomed many a newborn to Waterbury, as she worked in the Nursery for 40 years.

MIDDLEBURY – Delores Jean Mulhern, 86, died on April 18, 2020 after a long illness. She was born January 30, 1934 to George & Rose Allen.

Delores or “Dot” was married to Daniel Mulhern for 51 years. The couple made their home in Middlebury and Dan predeceased Dot in 2006.

Dot graduated from Wilby High School, Class of 1952 and attended St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1955. Dot welcomed many a newborn to Waterbury, as she worked in the Nursery for 40 years.

Dot is survived by her son Robert and his wife Lois, and her son Thomas and his wife Diane. Her son Dennis preceded her in death in 2015.

She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick, Emily, Kye and Zoe whom she adored. Dot was also a great grandmother to Jack, Finn, Mackenzie, Siobhan and Zelda.

Dot’s sisters, Teresa Cassella and Antoinette Stowell will also mourn her passing along with several nephews.

Dot was known for her dedication to her family and her nursing career.

Dot’s family would like to thank all the staff at Cheshire House for their loving care and attention to her.

We have entrusted the arrangements to the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. There will be a Memorial Mass held at a future date. Burial will be private in Lake Elise Cemetery, Middlebury.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org. Dot loved all children.
