Quassy Amusements Raises $5,300 For A Good Cause

Quassy Amusement & Waterpark today hosted a Coasting For Kids event in support of Give Kids The World Village in Kissimmee, Fla.

From Quassy Amusement & Waterpark: More than $5,300 was raised for Give Kids The World Village during its Coasting For Kids event at Quassy Amusement & Waterpark here.

“We’re extremely delighted that the campaign goal ($5,000) was shattered and that so many people turned out for Coasting For Kids,” Quassy President Eric Anderson said. “We have long supported Give Kids The World through its World Passport For Kids program and this was another way of contributing to the incredible property they have in Florida.”

Give Kids The World Village is an 84-acre, nonprofit "storybook" resort in Kissimmee, Fla., where
children with critical illnesses and their families are treated to weeklong, cost-free vacations. The event drew 49 participants from Connecticut and neighboring states with Vera Wisniewski of Ansonia, Conn., recognized as the top individual fundraiser. The top fundraising team was the
Connecticut Angels.

Kylie Ortity, development manager for Give Kids The World Village, was on hand to greet contributors during the morning registration and issue event T-shirts and badges. Those in attendance had exclusive morning ride times on Quassy’s Wooden Warrior and Little Dipper roller coasters. In addition, the park afforded them the opportunity to enjoy the other amusement rides and waterpark when the lakeside property opened to the public at 11 a.m.

American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) New England had around a dozen members present during the event. Following the exclusive ride time, ACE New England Regional Representative Rus Ozana presented Quassy with a plaque for the park’s “commitment to maintaining and preserving” the classic Allan Herschell Little Dipper, which made its debut at the park in 1952.
