Unlicensed 'Contractor' Charged After Not Completing Promised Work

Man took two payments but never completed the job, police say.

A Woodbury man was arrested by warrant this week after police accused him of telling a Naugatuck homeowner that he would install a lawn sprinkler system at the victim’s house and never completing the job.

John Stockwell, 42, of 97 Main St. North, was charged with willful performance of craftsmen work without a license after police investigated and learned that Stockwell did not have a trade license, Naugatuck police said.

Stockwell is accused of taking $1,450 in payments and only partially completed the installation over the summer. He was held on a $7,000 court set surety bond and was arraigned Thursday at Waterbury Superior Court.
