Description: Fine Line Art Gallery presents works of renowned Connecticut artist Charlotte Sternberg, known for her heart-warming landscapes & holiday scenes. Also featured are miniature paintings, prints, and photographs, plus pottery, jewelry, and unique greeting cards by award-winning local artists.

Description: All gifts are welcome and will be going to students at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Cash donations will also be accepted and will go to the families that have lost loved ones.

Woodbury: Vigil for Sandy Hook School

Where: Hollow Park

When: 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23

Cost: Free

Description: All clergy and community groups have been invited to participate in offering words of solace and reflection during this community gathering.  Please bring a candle or a small flashlight.

Fairfield: Christmas Carol Service and Yule Tea

Where: St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road, Fairfield

Cost: Free

Description: Known by its English name, this ‘Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols’ is a worship service famous the world over because of its yearly broadcast from the Chapel of King’s College, Cambridge, on Christmas Eve. This year, the service can be experienced right here in Fairfield, at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, on the Town Hall Green. Everyone is warmly welcome.

Shelton: Kids Night Out Presents Story Time with Santa

When: Saturday, Dec. 22, 11 a.m.

Where: Liquid Lunch, 434 Howe Ave., Shelton

Cost: Free

Description: An afternoon of stories, caroling, and holiday cheer! Bring your Letter to Santa so you can hand-deliver your Christmas list. Also spread the love and make a donation to the Spooner House. In lieu of presents, gifts cards are a wonderful option; allowing Spooner House to purchase items for families in need.

New Canaan: McEvoy Handcrafted Pottery Holiday Sale

When: Dec. 22-24

Where: 66 Seminary St, New Canaan, CT (in studio down driveway behind house)

Cost: Free

Description: George Fintan McEvoy will be holding the 50th annual exhibition and sale of his one-of-kind handcrafted pottery at his studio. His work includes bowls, vases, teapots, and jars with exotic wood lids. George notes that all pieces are made right here in New Canaan (“Shop Local”) and that many people buy his work as gifts for friends who appreciate something that is not mass produced. All pieces are safe to use with food.

Norwalk: "Behind the Scenes Tour" at the Maritime Aquarium

Where: Maritime Aquarium, 10 N. Water St., Norwalk

When: Saturday, 8:15 a.m.

Cost: $32.50

Description: The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk opens its backstage spaces for a rare behind-the-scenes tour. Conducted before the Aquarium opens, from 8:15 to 10 a.m., the guided tour offers unique opportunities to see how the animal-husbandry staff meets the varying food and water needs of some 2,000 resident animals.

The tour includes stops at the Aquarium’s “fish kitchen,” where 18 tons of fish a year is prepared, and above the 110,000-gallon Open Ocean tank, where the dorsal fins of 8-foot sand tiger sharks cut through the water surface. Learn the delicate requirements of a jellyfish “nursery.”

Participants must be at least 10 years old; under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

The tour is limited to 25 people, so reservations are strongly recommended. Walk-up tickets will be sold, space permitting.
