Winter Team State Championship History: Nonnewaug High School
Chief teams have won seven state championships in winters past.
WOODBURY, CT — As practices for Connecticut high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.
To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of all seven CIAC winter team titles won by Nonnewaug High School in past years (* - indicates a co-op team).
- wrestling (5) - Class S: 2004, 1997, 1996, 1992, 1991
- girls indoor track (1) - Class M: 2010
- boys indoor track (1) - Class S: 1960
