Woodbury Fire Chief Praises Volunteers
Average of 11 Firefighters Responded to Multiple Calls in January; Full Year 2020 Response Stats Also Released

Woodbury – “I’m very proud of the turnout from our volunteers for the large number of recent call-outs,” says Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan of the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Dept. She released the statistics for January that showed an average of 11 firefighters responding to each of the month’s 22 incidents that included four structure fires and three rescue calls. “It’s always a great response,” Chief Morgan said.
In addition last month the department answered to nine calls that were without incident, four service calls, and two responses to deal with hazards, Chief Morgan said.
Chief Morgan also released full-year 2020 responses at the department meeting Wednesday night, February 10th. They included 74 rescue roll-outs, 85 responses for hazardous condition alarms, and 18 fire runs. Last year also saw Woodbury volunteer firefighters responding to 152 calls with no fire or rescue, and 57 runs for community service or miscellaneous needs. ###
