Woodbury Firefighters Draw Winners in Annual Raffle

Forty Prizes Worth Six Thousand Dollars Drawn at Fire House Thanksgiving Eve

WOODBURY CT – For the price of a two-dollar ticket, Judy Balaban of Upper Grassy Hill Rd., Woodbury, won the big prize of a $3300 zero-turn mower at the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fund-raising raffle on Thanksgiving Eve November 25th. “The department uses any profit from the raffle to meet sudden equipment needs not foreseen in the annual town budget,” Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan said.

Fire Lt Chris Start, in full firefighter gear, pulled the ticket for the mower at the department, 25 Quassuk Rd. Firefighters Rob Start as Santa Claus and Matt Gereg along with Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan retrieved 39 more prize tickets from the raffle drum in the event streamed live on Facebook. According to names on the stubs, second prize ticketholder for a $400 string trimmer was John Radomski, Joshua Hll Rd. and third prize ticketholder for a wood pellet grill worth $800 was Elizabeth Albert, Bacon Pond Rd., both in Woodbury. “We really appreciate all the community support we receive, especially in these dire times,” Chief Morgan said. ##
