Woodbury Firefighters Drill on Brushfire Tactics

Controlled Burn at Department Meadow on March 27th

Woodbury – “Spring is a dangerous time for brush fires,” says Woodbury Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan. “Leaf litter and broken branches from winter dry out quickly and can burn a wide area.” With that in mind, 15 Woodbury volunteer firefighters ran through a practice drill on Saturday March 27th. Deputy Chief Dave Lampart reviewed the pump operation on the department’s brush-truck fire-fighting vehicle. Former Chief Bud Neal, in charge of the exercise, lit a controlled grassfire on the meadow in front of department headquarters and set firefighters to extinguish the blaze. ###
