Woodbury's annual Christmas tree clean-up and fire-safety burn is tentatively set for Jan 16th 2021 at 6pm, says Janet B. Morgan, chief of the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Dept. Town residents are invited to drop off discarded trees and evergreen wreaths after the holiday for anti-litter purposes and to prepare for the yearly fire safety demonstration, she said. “Dry pine, spruce, and fir evergreens are a major fire safety threat,” Chief Morgan said. “This way we get rid of a potential problem in a dramatic way that drives the point home.”

Chief Morgan reminded residents to drop off trees in the meadow in front of headquarters 25 Quassuk Road, not in the parking lot or dumped beside the area. Remove all metal and decorations first, she added. Former Chief Bud Neal will use the dramatic blaze to illustrate fire danger while Woodbury firefighters stand by. Confirmation of the date and snow dates will be announced later, officials said, along with covid-19 parking rules. “Health and safety restrictions will be in place which will probably mean limited parking and strict spectator spacing,” Chief Morgan concluded.
