Man Dragged Trooper, Drove Into Creek: Police

The trooper shot the man, who later drove through a fence and into a small creek, police said.

WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police said Adam Radcliffe, a 30-year-old from Wilmington, was shot and killed after he dragged a state trooper from his car.

Radcliffe had previously not been identified.

Police said the trooper saw Radcliffe drive erratically and strike a pole Friday before the trooper approached him at a shopping center. Radcliffe sped off, dragging the trooper with him, police said.

The trooper shot Radcliffe, who later drove through a fence and into a small creek, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. The trooper was treated for injuries at a hospital and released.

Police said the incident remains under investigation. Authorities did not immediately release the races of those involved.
