Noble’s Pond “Girls’ Night Out” to Fight MS Raises Record $18,240
For eight years, Noble's Pond residents have hosted the fundraiser to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis awareness and research.

Noble’s Pond, Dover’s premier 55+ Active Adult Community, recently hosted its 8th Annual Girls’ Night Out to Fight MS, a special event that raises money for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) awareness and research. The event, which included Designer Pocketbook Bingo, a silent auction, raffle, mystery boxes, dinner, drinks and dancing raised $18,240 -- a record amount for the annual event.
Girls’ Night Out to Fight MS was conceived by Noble’s Pond’s Lifestyle Director Colleen Ostafy, whose daughter was diagnosed with MS. Over the past eight years, the evening has grown in scope, participation and sponsors from throughout the Dover community. Numerous businesses donated items, gift cards and refreshments, and while the event is mostly attended by women, this year a record number of men joined in the fun by soliciting donations, bartending and assisting with the auction.
“When my own daughter was diagnosed, I learned that about three quarters of those with Multiple Sclerosis are women. I started thinking of a fun way to raise money to fund MS research, and came up with the idea of Girls’ Night Out to Fight MS. Noble’s Pond residents and employees jumped on board and each year they have made the fundraiser bigger, better and more successful, and gotten the greater community involved, too. I’m so proud that this event has raised about $150,000 over the years to support research, medication and wheelchairs/scooters for those whose mobility is compromised by MS.”

Noble’s Pond homeowners reach out to the larger community in a variety of ways throughout the year. At Christmastime, they hold an annual Toys for Tots drive and visit residents of a Dover nursing home, bearing gifts and singing carols. They collect and donate Legos for “Joey’s Tree”, named for the late grandson of Noble’s Pond residents who lost his life to cancer. They also cook for residents of a local shelter and participate in an annual MS walk.
