The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced that the permanent closure of the I-95 Southbound on-ramp from North Jackson Street, originally scheduled for 7 o’clock this morning, has been delayed to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. The change is due to a Tropical Storm Watch in effect for New Castle County in advance of Isaias, which is expected to produce heavy rain and high winds beginning tonight through tomorrow.

The ramp will be demolished as part of the multi-year I-95 Restore the Corridor Wilmington Project. As a result of the Jackson Street ramp closure and the removal in May of the 2nd Street on-ramp, motorists must access I-95 Southbound from Martin Luther King Boulevard. The detour routes are included as part of this news release and signage will be posted for motorists. A new 2nd Street on-ramp to I-95 is scheduled to open in December 2020, weather permitting.
