Baseball 5-7-19

A big day at the plate for Chris Thuys propelled A.I. duPont to 3-2 Flight B win. Thuys two out double in the 5th tied the scored and his 1 out bunt single in the bottom of the 7th scored Luis Ortiz-Cruz, who had tripled to lead off the inning, for the walk off win. Joe Orsini pitched 3 hit ball to pick up the win. Aidan Lambert drove in two runs for Brandywine.

Garrett Hillsgrove lead Mount’s offense going 4 for 4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Cooper Berry and Brennan Forbes each had 3 hits and combined for 9 RBI and 5 runs scored as the Green Knights of Mt. Pleasant defeated Dickinson 21-7. Dickinson’s Jose Javier had an RBI double and scored a run.

Salesianum starting pitcher, Alex Hinton, pitched 5 shut out innings allowing only two hits while striking out 8 and issuing no walks as they defeated the Vikings of St. Elizabeth 7-4. Offensively for the Salesianum, Alex Hinton hit a line drive to left field with bases loaded for a double and 2 RBIs, followed immediately by Brendan Pacheco who smacked a line drive to center field for 2 more RBIs. Dylan Rees and Ethan Valentine each had two base hits. Lance Hinton earned the save facing only 4 batters in the bottom of the 7th, striking out 2. Craig Small pitched 5 innings of relief for St. Elizabeth's allowing only three hits and 1 run. Jaden Dickerson reached base on all three plate appearances. He went 2 for 2 including a triple.

Brock Hilligoss struck out 5 in 6 innings of work to earn the 7-2 victory for Milford. Shawn Saxon was 3-4 with 2 doubles. Mason Morris had 2 hits, including a solo hr. Dylan Layton added 2 hits for the Bucs. Kyle Firle had 2 doubles for the Indians. Grant Argo had a rbi triple and River Vickers was 3-3.

Kobe Heinicke picked up the win in relief for Laurel 6-4. Heinicke, Dalton Perdue, Preston Hitchens, and Trevor Collins all had multiple hits for the Bulldogs. For the Spartans, Jaden Rivera and Gabe Martin had two hits each and multiple stolen bases.

John Pflugrad picks up his 2nd win for the Silver Eagles as they defeated the Cavaliers 3-1. Pflugrad went 5.2 innings, on 2 hits, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Shawn Haut shut the door for the Silver Eagles throwing 1.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, no walks, and picking up a strikeout. Haut also lead the Silver Eagles in offense going 2-4 with a double and run scored. Greg Hamrick went 1-2 with 2 runs scored for the Silver Eagles. David Keane threw 7 strong innings for the Cavaliers. He scattered 4 hits, 4 walks, 2 strikeouts, and 0 earned runs. Mitchell Jolikko lead the Cavaliers offense going 2-4 with a HR.

Chad Lopes pitched a 3 hit shut out with 5 K's to lead the Hillers to a 10-0 win over Sanford. Mike Gilbert went 3-4 with two triples. Jason Roux had 4 RBI's. Jack Zungalia and Lopes had two hits each. Dylan Smallwood doubled, Jack Valentine and Brian Keiser had singles for Sanford.

POLYTECH scored 3 runs in the bottom of the eighth for the 8-7 win. Logan Dominick had three double and two rbis and Mason Fluharty had a two run homerun in the top of the seventh inning for the vikings. Dylan Gros and Jack Walker were 2-4 for the panthers.

The CR offense was hot once again, starting off the game with 6 hits that included 4 consecutive doubles. CR ended up with 14 hits on the day. Brandon Hatch was 3-4 with 2 doubles. Ryan Rigby and Mason Brewer both had 2 hits including a double. Andrew Rigby struck out 5 Eagle hitters in 2 innings in relief of his brother Ryan, who earned the 12-3 win on the mound. James Barr had 2 hits for the Eagles.

William Penn was led offensively by Mark Kelly who had two hits and 3 RBIs on the day. CJ Wilkerson and Dylan Grygo also added two hits a piece for the Colonials as they defeated the Delcastle Cougars 11-1.
Delcastle's Bjorn Cummins had a hit and a run scored.

Newark Charter was led in htting by Gavin Winegar who was 2-2 w 4rbi's and John Ueltzhoffer who had two doubles for Newark Charter as they defeated Tatnall 13-3. Patrick Cannon doubled and scored twice and Hayden Harach had a double and 2 rbi's.CJ Ashe had 3 hits for Tatnall.

Delmar pitcher tossed a shut out and Gabe Rincon had 3 RBI's and 2 doubles for the 6-0 win over Seaford.

Jordan Banning was credited with the 9-2 victory for Sussex Central. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out two and walking one. Sussex Central recorded 14 hits in the game. Keeler, Sturgis, Watkinson, Camden Keeler, and Toppin each managed multiple hits for Sussex Central.

Appo broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the 6th inning when Gabe Dermott doubled home 2 runs for the Jags and won 2-0 over St. Georges. Mason Keene picked up his 6th win tossing 7 innings for the shutout, he gave up 4 hits on 8 K's and 0 walks. Lorenzo Carrier, and Krew Bouldin contirbuted Appo's other 2 hits. Noah Finocchiaro pitched 6 solid innings for the Hawks. Riley, Atkins, Finocchiaro, and Jourdan all had 1 hit for St. Georges.

Avery Adams gave Sussex Academy fits, as he bagged four hits in Glasgow Dragons Varsity's 20-8 victory on Tuesday. Adams tripled in the first, doubled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and hit a grand slam in the sixth.Glasgow Dragons Varsity collected 17 hits and Sussex Academy had ten in the high-scoring affair.Glasgow Dragons Varsity got things moving in the first inning. Jetzel Garcia hit a solo homer.Glasgow Dragons Varsity scored nine runs in the sixth inning. Dominic Joseph, Dante Claudio, Adams, and Joseph each drove in runs during the inning.Sussex Academy scored four runs in the sixth inning. Ronald Faust, Dylan Mooney, and Anthony Oscar each had RBIs in the big inning.Noah Gonzalez was on the pitcher's mound for Glasgow Dragons Varsity. He allowed eight hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out four.Ryan Bishop started the game for Sussex Academy. He allowed 17 hits and 20 runs over six innings, striking out three.Glasgow Dragons Varsity socked four home runs on the day. Garcia had a four bagger in the first inning. Joseph went yard in the sixth and sixth innings. Adams had a long ball in the sixth inning.Glasgow Dragons Varsity had 17 hits in the game. Adams, Garcia, Joseph, Jose Mendoza, Claudio, and Alvin Garcia each managed multiple hits for Glasgow Dragons Varsity. Adams went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Glasgow Dragons Varsity in hits. Glasgow Dragons Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Garcia had five chances in the field, the most on the team.Sussex Academy collected ten hits. Mooney and Nathan Sneller all had multiple hits for Sussex Academy. Mooney led Sussex Academy with three hits in four at bats.

Jonathan Hines went 6 1/3 allowing 1 run and striking out 6 batters. Zachary Morris, Wyatt Minner, and Jackson Tyer all had 2 hits for the Seahawks as they defeated the Charter Force 7-4. Dan Kennan threw 4 1/3 solid innings for the Force.

MOT’s Solomon Devard hit a 2nd inning homerun. Archmere’s Danny Storm went 4 innings allowing just that MOT homerun striking out 6 in earning the 22-1 win. Mike Dellose led the offense with 3 extra base hits, driving in 6. Connor Bartholomew chipped in with 2 hits and 4 RBI.

Max Awtry hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 6th inning to give Conrad the 3-2 lead and the win. Jeremy Coleman was the winning pitcher allowing 1 hit and 0 runs in two and a third innings. Nate Hardcastle pitched a strong game striking out five and giving up only 4 hits.

Softball

Newark Charter was led by Madi Turner and Hailee Trala who had three hits each as they defeated MOT Charter 11-0. Ashlee Trala, Peyton Vivian and Sami Sobocinski added two hits of their own for the Patriots. Lauren Flowers and Sarah Meyer had hits for MOT Charter.

Madelyn Pritchard and Aubree Foster combined for a perfect 5 inning game with 7 strikeouts. Makayla Robinson scored three times for Penn as they defeated Delcastle 13-0. Pritchard was also 3 for 3 at the plate.

Payton Dixon struck out 9, while going 2 for 3 at the plate. Olyvia Smith went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run, while Julia Thuer had 2 runs, 2 hits, and a RBI to pace the Lady Eagles of Smyrna to a 7-1 win over Caesar Rodney. Stacey Deputy went 2 for 2 for CR with 1 run.

Kourtney McNatt earned the win pitching into the 6th striking out 5. Jessica Walter entered to record the final 5 outs striking out 4 to pace the Lady Jags of Appoquinimink to a 7-5 win over St. Georges. The Jaguars were lead by Madeline Olivas who went 4 for 4 on the day with a double. Madison Baurele added 3 hits of her own scoring 2 runs while driving home 3. Senior Mallory Weir contributed on senior at APPO with a 2 run double. Madison Hoffman and Lia Moore each had 2 hits for the Hawks.

Jakayla Sample hit two homeruns, Kylie Kruger, Colleen Cosbey, Kayla Booros, and Kelsey Kormanik each had two hits. Corrin Farris doubled and Kayla Evans and Kayla Booros each had a triple. Taylor Wroten pitched a three hitter striking out 14 as they defeated the Lady Senators of Dover to a 8-0. Dover turned a 6-4-3 double play and a 6u-3 double play.

The Wildcats were led by P. Lynch and M. Lemon with 2 hits a piece in the game. Emma Czwalina recorded her first
win of her high school career as the Lady Wildcats of Delmar defeated the Lady Blue Jays of Seaford 4-2.

  • Four RBI Day For Nikki Elliott Leads DMA Seahawks Past Wilmington Charter 9-3.

Lake had Reed and Collins go 3 for 3 today and Aguilar went 4 for 4. Both Stahre and Troyer went 2 for 4 as they defeated the Lady Bulldogs of Laurel 7-4. For Laurel, Venbles went 3 for 3 while both Niblett and Brittingham went 2 for 3.

Concord's offense was led by Skye Lupi who went 3 for 3 with 2 homeruns and 5 RBI's and Shannon Edelman who had 3 hits including a homerun as they defeated the Yellowjackets of Newark 23-4. Brooke Steinberg and Sarah Rhodunda combined for 8 strikeouts. Newark's Shannon Eberle went 1 for 2 with an RBI double.

The Lady Tigers went seven innings to win on Senior Day. Seven Tigers hit for .500 or better. Senior pitcher, Emily Johns, on her last home game, gave up zero hits and struck out 4 batters for the Lady Tigers of AI as they defeated the Lady Bulldogs of Brandywine 21-16 win.

Dickinson's Tamera Williams' single in 2nd inning was the only thing keeping Mount's Teagan Bradley from pitching a perfect 5 inning game with 13 strikeouts. Mount's Kristin Haroldsdottir was 3 for 4 including a Home Run. Sister's Alyssa and Brennah Scott each were 3 for 4 as was Kayla Viohl for the Green Knights. Bradley and Brianna Snover both were 2 for 3, with one of Bri's being a triple down the left field line.

Lacrosse

Boys

4 goals by Connor Garrison, 3 each by Hunter Wolhar and Brendan Massey, 2 by Dominick Scioli, John Villermaux and Joshua Morris paced the Jaguars of Appoquinimink to a 22-1 win over the Colonials of William Penn. In the nets for the Jags Brett Forrest 4 Christopher Sullivan 5 for the Colonials of William Penn Geffen Stanhope recorded 7 saves.

3 goals by Grant Sisfo, 2 by Mather Rappa paced the Cougars of Delcastle to a 8-6 win over the Newark Yellowjackets. In the nets for Delcastle Xzairre Halsey recorded 15 saves,

4 goals by Andrew Trieble paced the Silver Eagles of Hodgson to a 7-6 win over the Hawks of St. Georges. Cody Pheasant led the Hawks with 2 goals. In the nets for Hodgson Camryn Vaneiken recorded 12 saves.

4 goals by Cole Morris, 2 goals each by Lucien McKean, Sullivan Connors, Nathan Rashkind and Andrew Rossi paced the Quakers of Wilmington Friends to a 14-1 win over Wilmington Christian. In the nets for the Warriors of WCS Jack Wriggins 15 saves and for Friends Lyle Knudson recorded 2 saves and 15 saves for Runlai Jiang.

6 goals by Devon Lucky, 4 goals by Collin Campbell, 3 goals by Tommy Bloom, 2 by JD Gaylor and Matthew Hicks paced the Warriors of Sanford to a 21-5 win over the Vikings of St. Elizabeth. In the nets for Sanford 1 save each by Owen Goodier and Will Oberle.

Girls Lacrosse

5 goals by Grace Bailer and Lucy Nace, 2 by Nicole Crivelli and Sarah Zungailia paced the Lady Hillers of Tower Hill to a 16-12 win over the Lady Quakers of Wilmington Friends. The Lady Quakers were led by Ava Cattone and Meghan Malone with 4 goals each. Parker Brown recorded 7 saves for the Lady Hillers and for the Lady Quakers Lucy Wood with 9.

6 goals by Haley Amato, 4 goals by Kaitlin Ford, 3 goals by Paige Abbott and 2 by Margaret Murphy paced the Lady Force of Charter to a 20-10 win over the Lady Seahawks of DMA. Michaela Charno and Alex Esterling each led with 4 goals.

5 goals by Alexis Webb, 2 by Kaylee Hall, Drew Szlasa, Maelyn Bryan and Morgan McGee paced the Lady Indians of Indian River to an 18-6 win over the Lady Vikings of Christiana. The Lady Vikings were led by Destiny Davis with 4 goals and 2 by Sydney Mulrine. In the nets for the Lady Indians of Indian River Allyson Clark 3 Kaylee Hall 1 for the Lady Vikings of Christiana Marlena Catalde 11.

Paxton Gregg with 3 goals, 2 each by Caitlin Logsden and Julia Brady paced the Lady Raiders of Concord to a 10-8 win over the Lady Cavaliers of Middletown. The Cavs were led by Emma Fisher with 3 goals and 2 by Madison Sumner. In the nets for Concord Jenna McKelvey recorded 11 and for Middletown Emily Lewis 7.

5 goals by Chloe Schaeffer, 4 by Alia Marshall, 3 by Lola Messick, 2 each by Sawyer Walker, Elizabeth Rishko and Anna Stancofski paced the Lady Vikings of Cape Henlopen to a 20-6 win over St. Andrews. For the Lady Cardinals Heleah Soulati and Nancy Tucker with 3 goals each. In the nets for Cape Laci Dixon 1 save Destiny Kusen 4 saves and for St. Andrews Charlotte Oxnam 8 saves.

6 goals by Haley Hockenbrock, 2 by Sydney Smith paced the Lady Red Wolves of Conrad to a 12-8 win over the Lady Lions of Red Lion Christian School. Margaret Johnson led the Lady Lions with 7 goals. In the nets for Conrad Megan Moore 14 saves and for RLC Alexis Bouwkamp recorded 12 saves.

3 goals by Allyson Laumeister and Rachel Thomas, 2 by Shelby Graser and Brooke Lawrence paced the Lady Jaguars of Appoquinimink to a 16-4 win over the Lady Yellowjackets of Newark.
