DSCC : Delaware Humaine Assocation And Delaware SPCA To Merge
Patrick J. Carroll, Executive Director
6/2/2021
From: Patrick J. Carroll, Executive Director Subject line: An important announcement from Delaware Humane Association Dear Friends and Family of Delaware Humane Association, I am thrilled to share with you that Delaware Humane Association (DHA) and Delaware SPCA have made the decision to merge our two organizations. Our capacity to do good work together is enormous! We are both long-standing leaders in the community; by coming together as partners and offering complementary services to pets and people, we will be able to multiply our collective impact. Delaware SPCA and DHA have been collaborating for many years on animal transports, pet food pantry events, and sharing resources. This long history of collaboration positions us to do so much more together. Delaware Humane Association, which has served the community for 64 years, will continue to offer adoption, low-cost veterinary services, affordable spay/neuter and more at our facilities in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach. The merged organization will also include Delaware SPCA’s Stanton Christiana location. By combining, we will be able to grow our programs and services, saving even more animals. We expect the merger to be complete in fall 2021. I will serve as Chief Executive Officer of the new organization, and Anne Cavanaugh of Delaware SPCA will serve as Chief Operating Officer. The name of the merged entity has not yet been decided. Updates will be shared over the next several months. In the meantime, please continue to visit our website for more information, become more familiar with Delaware SPCA, follow both organizations’ social media accounts (here and here), and consider supporting our lifesaving work with a gift. This is an exciting time for animal welfare in Delaware! Thank you for your support as we commit to making an even more positive impact for pets and people in our community. Gratefully, Patrick J. Carroll Executive Director
