This time last year we were all wondering when we could leave our homes and get back to normal. Now, that seems so long ago as we are back in action and ready to celebrate Independence Day! This year, 4th of July weekend in Greater Wilmington offers five spectacular firework displays. Here’s where the sparks will fly July 2nd - July 4th.

July 2nd

Freedom Fireworks at UD Athletic Complex

Enjoy a beautiful display of color in the sky at the University of Delaware. The fireworks show will begin at dusk (approximately 9:15pm) and will be visible from the FREE parking lots throughout the complex. Rain date will be July 5th.

*Free parking and viewing from your vehicle's location are available in the University of Delaware Athletic Complex lots, including those surrounding the UD Stadium and Bob Carpenter Center, as well as the Woods Lot (off Route 4) and the STAR Campus north and south parking lots. Parking will open around 7pm.

Fireworks Express on the Wilmington and Western

Grab the family for a unique experience. Hop aboard the Wilmington and Western Railroad and get front row seats to an incredible fireworks display. Reservations are required and tickets go quickly so be sure to grab them while you can. Note: This ride is July 2nd NOT July 4th and will depart at 7:00pm.

The train will take passengers to Hockessin for the town’s annual July 4th Fireworks display!

Passengers are welcome to bring coolers, blankets and folding chairs aboard. Allow 4 hours for the train ride and fireworks show.

Hockessin Fireworks

If you’re not on board the Wilmington & Western Railroad to Hockessin, Delaware’s annual fireworks display you can still enjoy them with on your own. Hockessin offers plenty of great restaurants to grab dinner before-hand and Swift Park offers a great view of the fireworks with space for blankets and chairs. This year, the Hockessin fireworks are on July 2nd. Get there early as spots tend to fill up quickly.

July 3rd

Post-Game Fireworks at Wilmington Blue Rocks vs. Rome Braves

Grab your tickets and enjoy a night out at the ballpark cheering on the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Be sure to stick around for an amazing display of post-game fireworks presented by the Casino at Delaware Park!

July 4th

Fireworks Along Wilmington’s Riverfront

Cityfest Wilm presents the July 4th Celebration and Fireworks display along Wilmington’s Riverfront neighborhood. An all-afternoon affair begins at 2:00pm with family festivities, food and games. After the daytime activities, enjoy a spectacular 4th of July fireworks show launched from Tubman Garrett Park around 9:00pm (or when it becomes dark enough).

Take advantage of free parking at the Shipyard Shops, Frawley Stadium and at the Chase Center on the Riverfront. Please remember that parking at restaurants along the Riverfront is for restaurant patrons ONLY.
