Wilmington City government offices will be closed on Monday, October 26, 2020, for the City's early observance of Veterans Day.

Wilmington City government offices will be closed on Monday, October 26, 2020, for the City’s early observance of Veterans Day, which will be commemorated by other governments in November. Because of this holiday, the Department of Public Works’ Sanitation Division will collect trash on a modified holiday schedule:

- Monday, October 26: No trash collection
- Tuesday, October 27: East of I-95 trash collection
- Wednesday, October 28: West of I-95 trash collection
Recyclables will be collected as regularly scheduled on Thursday, October 29 for areas east of I-95, and on Friday, October 30 for areas west of I-95.
Wilmington observes Veteran’s Day in late October because the City’s unions negotiated an additional holiday in the month of October more than two decades ago. When other governments observe the traditional Veteran’s Day this year on Monday, November 11, City offices will be open for business.
