Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki reminds residents and visitors that the successful “Curbside Wilmington” and “Dining on Delaware” efforts – the result of partnerships between the City of Wilmington, West Side Grows Together, Downtown Visions, and The Committee of 100 – continue into the fall, weather permitting. These initiatives have allowed participating restaurants in the Downtown District, the Trolley Square/Forty Acres neighborhood, and the North Union Street corridor on the City’s West Side to offer more seating at safely spaced distances in accordance with Governor John Carney’s guidelines.

“When we launched ‘Curbside Wilmington’ a few months ago, we were hoping this outdoor dining model would expand, and it has with great success,” said Mayor Purzycki. “Many other eateries across the City have successfully expanded outdoors as a way to deal with the unique challenges posed by the COVID pandemic, and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy wonderful food and drink, served by dedicated wait staff at our many outstanding Wilmington restaurants.”

The original, ongoing “Curbside Wilmington” project, launched in June with the help of Downtown Visions to aid businesses hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic and encourage patrons to return to the Downtown District over the summer, expanded to the Trolley Square/Forty Acres neighborhood in August with “Dining on Delaware,” then to Union Street last month.
