1 Person Missing After Work Boat Overturns On Potomac River

Two people were rescued and another is still missing after a work boat overturned in the Potomac River near Key Bridge, officials said.

(Updated at 4 p.m. Monday): GEORGETOWN, DC — A man is missing after a workboat overturned near the Francis Scott Key Bridge Monday morning.

Three people were on a pontoon boat while doing construction work. The boat capsized just before 11 a.m. Monday.

Two people were rescued, but one man is still missing, Coast Guard agents said. The missing man is reported to be wearing a red life jacket.

Sector Maryland-National Capital Region launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Station Washington and a MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter from Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey, to assist with the search alongside D.C. Fire and EMS, Alexandria Fire Department, U.S. Park Police, D.C. Police Department, and D.C. Harbor Patrol, a statement said.

“We are hard at work alongside our partner agencies to locate this missing man,” Lt. David Kent, command duty officer at Sector Maryland-National Capital Region, said in a statement.
