Best Outdoor Dining Restaurants In DC, VA: OpenTable's 2019 List

WASHINGTON, DC — Now that summer temperatures have arrived, it's prime season for outdoor dining, and OpenTable has released its "100 Best Al Fresco Restaurants in America for 2019" list. OpenTable, the online restaurant reservation system, compiled its list based on more than 12 million reviews submitted on the site for more than 30,000 restaurants in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

"Whether it's corn on the cob or a glass of rosé, summer is finally here and it's time to dine outdoors. Our 100 Best Al Fresco list for 2019 highlights restaurants that offer stunning views, delicious menus and above all else, incredible outdoor dining experiences worth the trip," the website said.

The selections highlight restaurants that offer stunning views, regional cuisine and, above all, fabulous outdoor dining experiences, the website says.

The list of honorees came from reviews all submitted by verified diners.

Two Washington, D.C. spots are on the list, while no Virginia eateries made the cut:

Farmers Fishers Bakers, 3000 K Street NW, Washington, D.C.

"Excellent evening! The service was great - starting with the hostess Greta to our server. Food was fabulous. Will definitely return when back in Georgetown," wrote one reviewer.

Here's how the restaurant describes itself: "On the banks of the Potomac River, in Georgetown’s lively Washington Harbour area of our nation’s capital, we have built our urban farmhouse – Through the Eyes of the Farmer – where the source of your food matters, the culinary crew is crafting inspired dishes and drinks from scratch, and our team is always working to make sure you have a good time. We do all of this while continuing to focus on operating in a green and sustainable way in order to protect the health of the land and waterways we all call home."

Le Diplomate, 1601 14th St. NW, Washington, DC

"The BEST burgers in DC. Excellent bread too. Great service, and always bustling," said one review.

The restaurant says: "Le Diplomate pays sincere homage to French cafe culture, providing a comfortable, versatile gathering place that’s become an anchor for Washington, D.C.’s resurgent 14th Street corridor. ... The extensive menu features a variety of Gallic classics, including onion soup gratinée, steak frites and escargots, as well as daily plates such as bouillabaisse and cassoulet."
