Where to Buy Dorm Room Supplies in Georgetown
You won't find a Walmart nearby, but there are several local shops close to Georgetown to outfit your new dorm room.

Back-to-school season is just around the corner. For younger students, that means buying new pens and pencils, a trendy lunchbox and perfect first day of school duds.
For students headed to college, back-to-school shopping is a whole different ballgame.
Collegians need to be outfitted with everything from extra-long twin sheets and a mini-fridge to flip flops for the community shower to futons.

We've set up this guide for incoming and George Washington University students. You won't find a Walmart in our quaint corner of Washington, but we have several smaller stores where you can stock up on essentials.
- , 2819 M St. and 1403 Wisconsin Ave. Office supplies abound at this national chain, including notebooks, pens, pencils and flash drives. You can also buy small wastebaskets, shampoo and ramen noodles here. It's a one-stop shop. Note that the location on M Street does not include a pharmacy, but the Wisconsin Avenue location does.
- , 3307 M St. Looking for a neat accent pillow? Or a set of basic sheets? How about plastic glasses or dorm room flatware? You'll find it at this M Street off-shoot of Crate & Barrel. They also have a pricey futon.
- Glover Park Hardware, 2251 Wisconsin Ave. Travel up to Glover Park, just north of Georgetown, to stock up on small appliances like a mini-fridge. This store is more than just nails and paint. They also sell frames, air fresheners and cleaning supplies — all dorm room essentials.
- , 3111 M St. Find the perfect quirky wall clock or goofy coffee table book at this trendy chain. Pick up a pair of flip flops for the community shower, too. The prices here are perfectly suited to a college student's limited budget.Â
- , 1855 Wisconsin Ave. Of course Safeway carries all the groceries a college students needs, but it also will help you stock up on paper towels, cooking utensils and even a small potted plant for the window. If you need it, chances are Safeway carries it. And there's a Starbuck's inside the store, to boot.
- , 1229 Wisconsin Ave. The iPad today is what Trapper Keepers were to students in the early 90s. Laptops, iPhones and everything else Apple makes are available here — the only Apple store in DC. Tech experts at the Genius Bar can help you troubleshoot any problem you run into with your gadgets.
