GEORGETOWN, DC — A family-owned Mediterranean bakery and café has set up shop in Georgetown.

Located at 1560 Wisconsin Ave. NW, La Jolie Bleue — which is French for the beautiful blue — pays tribute to the Mediterranean Sea and the area's rich history.

"Our name, as it is described, the beautiful blue, is a direct reference to the Mediterranean Sea, the connecting body of water where flavors has traveled in all directions since antiquity," the Slimanifamily said in a statement. "A proud heritage based on respect of the land and sea."

La Jolie Bleue serves both sweet and savory dishes, including baklava, almond cookies, and phyllo pastries stuffed with chicken and mushrooms.

The window-filled café takes the space formerly occupied by Bharati, a fast-casual Indian restaurant that opened in 2018. Before then, 1560 Wisconsin Ave. NW was home to Dolcezza, a homegrown gelato and coffee shop.
