Georgetown GLOW 2018 To Illuminate Historic City: Dec. 1 - Jan. 6

Georgetown GLOW will feature 10 commissioned light-art works by local, regional, and international artists.

GEORGETOWN, DC — Georgetown will shine a little brighter during the holiday season.

On Saturday, the Georgetown Business Improvement District will kick off its fifth edition of GLOW — the region's only outdoor, public light-art exhibition. The free event will feature 10 commissioned light-art works by local, regional, and international artists — located on buildings, streets, and other outdoor spaces.

Some artists being featured this year are Tom&Lien Dekyvere of Belgium, Hou de Sousa of New York, and Toer of the Netherlands.

Robin Bell and Johnny Dukovich and Klagsbrun Studios are from Washington, D.C. Bell's works of art can be seen on Cady's Alley between 33rd and 34th streets and on the BB&T Building on Wisconsin Avenue. Johnny Dukovich and Klagsbrun Studios' work can be found at Book Hill, near the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Reservoir Road.

"The installations for the 2018 edition of Georgetown GLOW focus on the interaction between space and place," said Deirdre Ehlen MacWilliams, Georgetown GLOW curator. "Each artwork is responsive to the historic and unequaled landscape of Georgetown, and conveys a sense of magic and warmth in DC. From positive sentiments we hope visitors fall in love with, to kaleidoscopes of color, light and sound, the artworks are hopeful, playful and interactive. As in years past, GLOW brings a renewed light to all during the holiday season."
