Georgetown GLOW To Give Away 400 Free Pieces Of Art On Jan. 6
The event takes place on the last day of Georgetown GLOW — the region's only outdoor, public light-art exhibition.

GEORGETOWN, MD — It's illegal to walk into a store and take an item without paying for it.
But on the evening of Jan. 6, Georgetown GLOW spectators are encouraged to take home one of 400 hand-assembled lanterns from Twilight Antiques & Thrift! Yes, for free.
The event takes place on the last day of Georgetown GLOW — the region's only outdoor, public light-art exhibition. Since it opened on Dec. 1, hundreds of locals and tourists got to wander around Georgetown and snap pictures of the light-art installations. Twilight Antiques & Thrift! is one of the 10 commissioned light-art works featured during the month-long exhibition.

"The piece pays homage to the many small businesses in Georgetown as a life-scale representation of an antique and thrift store in the form of a glowing lantern. Lining the shelves of this translucent shop are these 400 hand-assembled lanterns — each a reproduction of an object that relates to Washington, D.C., and can actually be found in Georgetown or part of the artists' collection," the Georgetown Business Improvement District said in a statement.
