Georgetown Library Closed After Live Snakes Found In Building

The Georgetown Library was closed from Saturday to Tuesday after staff members found several live snakes inside the building.

GEORGETOWN, DC — The Georgetown Library was closed for days after staff found several snakes inside the library, according to reports.

The Washington Post says the public library was closed Saturday after a staff member found a snake in the library.

The employee captured the snake and released it outside, but another library employee then found two new snakes downstairs hours after.

The library remained closed for two days while waiting for a pest control company to give the all-clear.

“I’ve been here 10 years, and this is the first time that I’ve heard of snakes entering the building,” spokesman George Williams told The Washington Post.
