'Julia Child House' on the Market in Georgetown
Famed American chef, author and TV personality lived in the home with her husband Paul.

The home, at 2706 Olive St., is on the market for $1.1 million. The house was built in 1900 by an African American carpenter, Edgar Murphy, after the Civil War, according to its listing. The backyard opens onto Rose Park.
The house is four stories tall and features four bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The home needs some TLC and is being sold “as is.”

Julia Child twice lived in the Georgetown home with her husband Paul, according to a 2012 article in Washingtonian.
The couple first lived in the home in 1948 after they married; they rented out the house while they were stationed abroad and returned to live in the home in 1956, according to the article. Child reportedly gave cooking lessons from the kitchen and began research there for her ”Mastering the Art of French Cooking” book.
