Manassas Man Arrested In DC Child Sexual Abuse Case

WASHINGTON, DC — A Manassas, Virginia man was arrested Saturday in connection with a child sexual abuse offense that took place Thursday in the Berkley area of the District, according to a police release.

Between approximately noon and 12:30 p.m., the suspect approached the female victim in the 5000 block of MacArthur Blvd., N.W., and engaged in unwanted sexual contact. The suspect then left the scene in a vehicle.

MPD released a video Friday of the suspect and vehicle in connection with this case.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Prince William County Police Department arrested Thomas Michael Hayes, 44, of Manassas. Once the extradition process is completed, Hayes will be taken to MPD's Youth and Family Services Division, Physical and Sexual Abuse Branch and charged with second degree child sexual abuse.
