NoVA, DC Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch Sunday Night

The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for much of northern Virginia and DC Sunday.

WASHINGTON, DC — Wind gusts of up to 50 miles an hour are possible Sunday night as a line of showers moves into the District of Columbia and northern Virginia.

At 6:01 p.m., radar indicated showers were located along a line extending from near Bluemont to near Mount Jackson. Movement was east at 20 mph. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible with these storms.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Washington, D.C., region until 11 p.m. Sunday.

Locations in the watch area include: Washington, D.C., Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park.
