Presidents' Day Weekend Metro Schedule: Station Closures, More

WASHINGTON, DC — There are plenty of things to do and see in the D.C. area this holiday weekend. Some attractions you'll find include: Taste of Greece, George Washington Birthday Parade, Rock The Rink, D.C. Defenders vs. New York Guardians, and "The King's Speech."

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, Feb. 15 through Monday, Feb. 17, you should plan accordingly.

Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

Red Line trains will run every 6 to 8 minutes between Shady Grove and Takoma.

Here's what else to expect:

• Due to MTA Purple Line integration, free shuttle buses will replace trains between Fort Totten and Glenmont
  • Buses will operate on two routes:
    • Between Fort Totten, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont
      • No stopping at Takoma
    • Between Takoma and Silver Spring
  • Riders traveling to stations beyond Silver Spring need to exit at Fort Totten
  • Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton, and Glenmont stations will be closed

Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Silver Line trains will operate on a normal weekend schedule, which is every 12 to 15 minutes.

Metro will open at 5 a.m. and close at 11:30 p.m. on Presidents' Day. Trains will run on a Saturday schedule, off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at Metro parking facilities.
