Public Promenade Coming to The Wharf Southwest Waterfront
The new additions in D.C. include a green space named after Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.

Stretching over 25 acres of land and 50 acres of water, The Wharf on Hoffman-Madison Waterfront is adding many new additions in upcoming years.
One of the features of the development will be a green space with benches for recreational use named “Eleanor Holmes Norton Plaza” after the Congresswoman.
PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette will develop The Plaza, which broke ground in March. The project will open on the Southeast side between the Wharf shoreline and Pier Street. The extensive project is expected to generate $47 million in tax revenue each year and create thousands of permanent jobs for D.C. residents.

“From the very beginning, Congresswoman Norton has been instrumental to our vision of what this project will be to the community,” Hoffman-Madison Waterfront development partner Monty Hoffman said in a news release. “Her leadership in passage of these laws is key to the very existence of what will be a palpably transformative community – located right here in Southwest Washington along the waterfront.”
A set date has not been announced for the Plaza opening, however, the first phase is expected to open in October 2017.
