Single-Tracking, Bus Stops Move: WMATA Weekend Schedule

WASHINGTON, DC — There are plenty of things to do and see in the D.C. area this weekend. Some attractions you'll find include: Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, Tiki Yards, Hootie & the Blowfish, and DC Swim Week.

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, July 27 or Sunday, July 28, you should plan accordingly: six Blue and Yellow Line train stations south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will be closed. The station closures, which will be in effect until Sept. 8, are part of a larger improvement project by WMATA.

Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

Red Line trains will operate every 15 minutes. Additional trains will run every 7 to 8 minutes between Shady Grove and Judiciary Square from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Due to construction, trains will single-track between Union Station and Rhode Island Avenue.

Blue Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Largo Town Center. From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, trains will bypass Pentagon station due to a scheduled training exercise. Metrobus and shuttle service from Pentagon Transit Center will temporarily relocate to Pentagon City (South Hayes Street & 12th Street).

Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Franconia-Springfield.

Important Shuttle Bus Information:

• Blue Line shuttles will travel between Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King Street-Old Town, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
• Shuttles will not stop at Braddock Road station
• Riders traveling to and from Braddock Road should use the Yellow Line shuttle
• Riders should anticipate 15 minutes of travel for each station stop
• A Franconia-Pentagon Express shuttle will run between Franconia-Springfield and Pentagon stations only (temporarily relocated to Pentagon City on Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
• Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King St-Old Town, and Braddock Road stations will be closed

Yellow Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Greenbelt. From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, trains will bypass Pentagon station due to a scheduled training exercise. Metrobus and shuttle service from Pentagon Transit Center will temporarily relocate to Pentagon City (South Hayes Street & 12th Street).

Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Crystal City and Huntington.

Important Shuttle Bus Information:

• Yellow Line shuttles will travel between Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue, King Street-Old Town, Braddock Road, and Crystal City
• Shuttles will not stop at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
• Riders traveling to and from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport should use a Blue Line shuttle
• Riders should allot 15 minutes of travel time for each station stop
• A Huntington-Pentagon Express shuttle will run between Huntington and Pentagon stations only (temporarily relocated to Pentagon City on Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
• Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue, King Street-Old Town, and Braddock Road stations will be closed

Green Line trains will run every 20 minutes. Due to construction, trains will single-track between Naylor Road and Branch Avenue.

Orange and Silver Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule.
