Single-Tracking, Stations Closed: Weekend Metro Schedule

WASHINGTON, DC — There are plenty of things to do and see in the D.C. area this weekend. Some attractions you'll find include: Scavenger Hunt of the National Zoo, Asian Food Truck Festival, Brad Paisley Tour 2019, and Puppy Party.

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, Aug. 10 or Sunday, Aug. 11, you should plan accordingly: six Blue and Yellow Line train stations south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will be closed. The station closures, which will be in effect until Sept. 8, are part of a larger improvement project by WMATA.

Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

Red Line trains will operate every 18 minutes. From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. this weekend, trains will run every 9 to 10 minutes between Farragut North and Glenmont. Due to rail work, trains will single-track between Van Ness-UDC and Friendship Heights.

Blue Line trains will run on a regular weekend schedule between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Largo Town Center. Customers traveling to and from Benning Road, Capitol Heights, Addison Road, Morgan Boulevard, and Largo Town Center should take the Silver Line.

Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Franconia-Springfield.

Important Shuttle Bus Information:

• Blue Line shuttles will travel between Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King Street-Old Town, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
• Shuttles will not stop at Braddock Road station
• Riders traveling to and from Braddock Road should use the Yellow Line shuttle
• Riders should anticipate 15 minutes of travel for each station stop
• A Franconia-Pentagon Express shuttle will run between Franconia-Springfield and Pentagon stations only
• Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King St-Old Town, and Braddock Road stations will be closed

Yellow Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Mt. Vernon Square. Customers traveling to and from stations north of Mt. Vernon Square should take the Green Line.

Free shuttle buses replace trains between Crystal City and Huntington.

Important Shuttle Bus Information:

• Yellow Line shuttles will travel between Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue, King Street-Old Town, Braddock Road, and Crystal City
• Shuttles will not stop at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
• Riders traveling to and from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport should use a Blue Line shuttle
• Riders should allot 15 minutes of travel time for each station stop
• A Huntington-Pentagon Express shuttle will run between Huntington and Pentagon stations only
• Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue, King Street-Old Town, and Braddock Road stations will be closed

Green Line trains will run every 20 minutes. Trains will single-track between Georgia Avenue-Petworth and Fort Totten.

Orange and Silver Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule.
