WASHINGTON, DC — Just days before the Christmas holiday, the son of a DC restaurant owner lost his life Monday in a suicide blast in Afghanistan, according to his parents.

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Peter “Pete” Taub was a native of Montgomery County, Pa., and one of six American service members killed in the suicide bomb attack by a motorcyclist in Bagram, Afghanistan. The attack was claimed by the Taliban, according to CNN and other reports.
Taub was a father of a 3-year old daughter with another child on the way, according to his father Joe Taub, who confirmed his son’s death with NBC-10 in Philadelphia.

Taub’s mom, Arlene Wagner, is the owner of Bub & Pop’s in DC; she posted this message Tuesday on the restaurant’s Facebook page:
A GoFundMe page has been posted online to help raise money for Pete Taub’s family left behind: his widow, daughter and another child on the way according to NBC-10. So far, more than 200 people have donated nearly $12,000.
