Station Closures, Buses Replace Trains: Metro Weekend Schedule

WASHINGTON, DC — There are plenty of things to do and see in the D.C. area this weekend. Some attractions you'll find include: Snoop Dogg & Wu Tang Clan, DC Fashion Week, Apple Gala & Fresh Cider Fest, and Dogtoberfest.

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Sept. 29, you should plan accordingly.

Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

Red Line trains will operate between Shady Grove and Fort Totten, and Silver Spring and Glenmont. From opening to 9:30 p.m., trains will run every 8 minutes. From 9:30 p.m. to closing, trains will run every 15 minutes. Due to track work, free shuttle buses will replace trains between Fort Totten, Takoma Park, and Silver Spring. Takoma Park station will be closed. To accommodate bus connections, the last train will leave Glenmont, Wheaton, and Forest Glen 18 minutes ahead of schedule on Saturday, and 23 minutes earlier on Sunday.

On Saturday, Silver and Blue Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule (trains arrive every 12 minutes). After 2 p.m. on Sunday, trains operate every 15 minutes. Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Morgan Boulevard and Largo Town Center from opening until 2:00 p.m. Largo Town Center station will be closed.

Yellow Line trains will run between Huntington and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport every 12 to 15 minutes. Riders traveling to Yellow Line stations beyond Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport should take the Blue Line and transfer at L'Enfant Plaza.

From opening to 9 p.m., Green Line trains will run every 9 minutes. After that, they'll run every 10 to 12 minutes.

Orange Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule.
