Station Closures, Possible Slow Downs On Metro This Weekend

WASHINGTON, DC — There are plenty of things to do and see in the D.C. area this weekend. Some attractions you'll find include: The Big Flea Antiques Market, DC Independent Film Festival, Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade and Fun Dog Show, and DC Whiskey Walk.

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, March 7 through Sunday, March 8, you should plan accordingly.

Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

Red Line trains will run every 16 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, but single-track between Dupont Circle and Van Ness-UDC. Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., additional trains will operate every 8 minutes between Farragut North and Glenmont.

Orange Line trains will run every 12 minutes on Saturday and every 15 minutes on Sunday between West Falls Church-VT/UVA and New Carrollton. Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA. Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and Dunn Loring-Merrifield stations will be closed.

Yellow Line trains will only operate between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Square/7th St.-Convention Center. Trains will run every 12 minutes on Saturday and every 15 minutes on Sunday. Riders traveling to and from stations north of Mt. Vernon Square/7th St.-Convention Center should take the Green Line to get to their destination.

Blue and Silver Line trains will run every 12 minutes on Saturday and every 15 minutes on Sunday.

Green Line trains will operate every 18 minutes, but single-track between Georgia Ave-Petworth and Fort Totten.
