Storm Threat in Georgetown Tuesday Afternoon

Storms are expected to arrive in Georgetown in the late afternoon, early evening hours, bringing the potential for strong winds and hail.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Northern Virginia region, including Georgetown, for this afternoon and evening.

According to the NWS, scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast and possess the potential to develop into severe storms by the time they arrive.

“Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the primary threats,” the NWS warned residents in its weather outlook.

The forecast in Georgetown says there is a 30-50 percent chance of rain from 2-7 p.m. before the chance of rain drops to 10-20 percent.
