Washington Nationals Fires Manager, Entire Coaching Staff
The team went from World Series favorites to failing to make the playoffs.

The Washington Nationals baseball team has fired Manager Matt Williams, Nationals President and GM Mike Rizzo announced on social media Monday. Williams was the 2014 National League Manager of the Year.
Others whose contracts were not renewed, according to the announcement:
- Bench Coach Randy Knorr
- Pitching Coach Steve McCatty
- Hitting Coach Rick Schu
- Third Base Coach Bobby Henley
- First Base Coach Tony Tarasco
- Bullpen Coach Matt LeCroy
- Defensive Coordinator Mark Weidemaier
The team won 13 fewer games this season than in 2014, which was the second-largest drop among National League teams (behind the Brewers, at 14), ESPN pointed out, after the announcement Monday.
