2 D.C. Buildings Damaged In Explosion After Gas Leak
BREAKING: One person was injured following the explosion of the building located in the 1200 block of Marion Barry Avenue Southeast.

WASHINGTON, DC ? A person was injured Thursday morning when an explosion prompted by a gas leak damaged two buildings in southeast Washington, D.C., according to authorities.
According to DC Fire and EMS, firefighters responded to an explosion on the second floor of a building in the 1200 block of Marion Barry Avenue Southeast. Authorities said the area had previously been evacuated due to a gas leak.
One person was injured by flying debris, fire officials said.

Following the explosion, one building collapsed and caught fire, authorities said. The explosion also damaged a second building.
As of 11 a.m., DC Fire and EMS had 20 units and 100 personnel working to extinguish the blaze and protect nearby buildings.
