Bowser Declares Snow Emergency; DC Schools Open Virtually
Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a snow emergency in response to the snow storm moving through the region.

WASHINGTON, DC — Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a snow emergency for the District on Thursday due to inclement weather. In addition, D.C. Public Schools will be closed for in-person learning, but students will be studying virtually and following their normal class schedule.
D.C. Government offices will be open, with non-essential and non-emergency employees teleworking. Unless otherwise directed, essential employees are expected to report to work as normal.
All federal offices in the D.C. area are closed, according to the Office of Personnel Management. Emergency employees and telework employees are expected to continue working as scheduled.

All public COVID-19 testing sites will be closed on Thursday. Public COVID-19 vaccination sites will be open, including vaccination sites and Department of Parks and Recreation facilities.
All meal distribution sites at DPR and DCPS facilities are closed on Thursday.

With the snow emergency in effect, motorists must remove their parked vehicles from streets designated as snow emergency routes. Vehicles parked on these routes are subject to towing. Find a map and list of the snow emergency routes at snow.dc.gov.
District residents and commercial property owners are reminded that they must clear snow and ice from their sidewalks within the first eight hours following the end of the storm.
