'A Capitol Fourth': Vanessa Williams To Host PBS' July 4 Concert

The 41st annual Capitol Fourth concert​ on PBS will be pre-recorded, with singer and actress Vanessa Williams serving as host of the event.

WASHINGTON, DC — The 41st annual Capitol Fourth concert on PBS will be pre-recorded, with singer and actress Vanessa Williams serving as host of the event from D.C.

The concert will include pre-recorded performances, similar to the 2020 concert, by Jimmy Buffett, Gladys Knight, Alan Jackson, Jennifer Nettles and Renée Fleming. A Capitol Fourth will air on PBS on July 4 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ET.

The National Symphony Orchestra will perform John Williams’ composition “Olympic Fanfare” in tribute to Team USA, honoring the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams as they prepare for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Other artists performing for A Capitol Fourth are actress and singer Auli’i Cravalho, pop band Train, country music singer Mickey Guyton, actor Ali Stroker, country music singer Jimmie Allen, Broadway star Laura Osnes and the NSO under the direction of conductor Jack Everly.

Capping off the concert broadcast on PBS will be live coverage of the fireworks display on the National Mall captured by multiple cameras stationed around the city.

The program can also be heard in stereo over NPR member stations nationwide, and will be streaming on Facebook, YouTube and www.pbs.org/a-capitol-fourth and available as Video on Demand for a limited time from July 4 to July 18.
