Capitol Police Arrest VA Man Who Scaled Fence Put Up After Jan. 6
Marc Beauchamp of Henrico County was taken into custody Sunday night after allegedly scaling a fence and entering U.S. Capitol grounds.
WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Capitol Police took a Virginia man into custody after he entered a restricted area Sunday night inside a fence around the U.S. Capitol.
In a statement, the Capitol Police said 22-year-old Marc Beauchamp of Henrico County was taken into custody late Sunday night after he successfully scaled the fence and entering the Capitol grounds along First Street, SW in D.C.
Beauchamp was immediately stopped by several Capitol Police officers and arrested for unlawful entry. The arrest comes a few days ahead of President Joe Biden's first address to Congress on Wednesday.

Prior to Jan. 6, when a mob of supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol, the area entered by Beauchamp was open to the public.
An investigation revealed the suspect illegally parked a vehicle at the other end of the National Mall on the grass near the Lincoln Memorial, according to the Capitol Police.

The Capitol Police, who are continuing to investigate the incident, said they believe Beauchamp’s actions were an “an isolated incident.”
