Here's everything you need to know about the Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger in D.C.
WASHINGTON, DC — The Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger will be taking place this week in D.C., which means a number of road closures throughout the morning.
The event is hosted by charity So Others Might Eat (SOME). This is their 18th annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger, and it will involve more than 8,000 people who will start running at Freedom Plaza to "give back and show what community and compassion is all about."
The festival will also cinlude music, games, and a Kids' One Mile Little Turkey Fun Run. Money raised will go to families and the elderly who need food, housing, health care, employment training, and addiction treatment programs.

The 400 block of 13th Street NW; 10th, 11th, and 12th streets NW between E Street and either Constitution or Pennsylvania Avenue NW; and Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 9th and 14th streets will be closed from 5:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 28, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The organization hosting the event is focused on tackling the problem of poverty in communities, and this event would help raise money to go toward their programs.

"The cycle of poverty and homelessness can be broken. SOME’s (So Others Might Eat) comprehensive programs designed to help our most vulnerable neighbors—people experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty—find pathways out of poverty and achieve long-term stability and success," their website states. "SOME is an interfaith, community-based service organization that exists to help and support residents of our nation’s capital experiencing homelessness and poverty. SOME offers a variety of services, including affordable housing, counseling, addiction treatment, and job training. In addition, SOME helps meet immediate daily needs by providing food, clothing, and healthcare to those in need."
You can register on their website up until the day before for a fee of $45 for a timed run and $40 for untimed. Same-day registration is available for $50 for an untimed run (timed runs aren't available for same-day registration).
