Fatal Shooting Of Silver Spring Man Investigated In PG County

A Silver Spring man found with a gunshot wound was rushed to a hospital and later died. PG County Police are investigating the shooting.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that took place Thursday in the Chillum area, according to a police release.

On Feb. 20, around 3 p.m., officers were called to the report of an accident in the 1000 block of Fairview Lane. Arriving on the scene, officers found Brian Keith Woods, 44, of Silver Spring, Maryland outside of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Woods was driving a car, which had just crashed into a parked vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries, but died a short time later.

Following an investigation, police determined Woods was not shot at the site of the vehicle collision on Fairview Lane. Detectives are working to determine the motive for and suspects involved in the shooting.
