French Restaurant La Bise To Open Just Steps From The White House
La Bise, a new French restaurant on Connecticut Avenue created by restaurateur Ashok Bajaj, is planning to open its doors on Friday.
WASHINGTON, DC — La Bise, a new French restaurant in D.C. created by restaurateur Ashok Bajaj, is planning to open its doors on Friday in the former location of the Oval Room.
The restaurant, located at 800 Connecticut Ave. NW, will have an expanded outdoor patio, bar, open air kitchen and two dining room.
Tyler Stout will serve as the executive chef of La Bise. Most recently, he served as the executive chef at Troquet on South in Boston. Stout previously participated in L'Academie de Cuisine's professional program and accepted positions at Newton’s Table in Bethesda and other restaurants before heading to Boston.

La Bise's bar, open on all sides, will have new liquor displays, new lighting, colorful tile and French-inspired wallpaper.
One of the two dining rooms will have a new mirrored wall. The second dining room will have custom murals of Paris. Both dining rooms will have new sconces and vibrant color palettes.

“We are striving to make La Bise the sophisticated but approachable, new fun French Restaurant in the neighborhood,” interior designer Martin Vahtra of Project Design Associates of New York said in a statement. “The décor will mirror the memorable French cuisine of La Bise, as it is plated and served from the dynamic open kitchen.”
Bajaj is founder and CEO of Knightsbridge Restaurant Group.
