"Hamilton," the hip-hop musical, is coming to the Kennedy Center this summer, and tickets are selling fast.

WASHINGTON, DC — It's the hottest ticket in town. Tens of thousands of people, both in person and online, attempted to purchase tickets Monday to "Hamilton," the hip-hop musical coming to the Kennedy Center this summer, according to a media report. On Monday morning, a huge crowd showed up at the performing arts center in Foggy Bottom as the coveted tickets went on sale at 8 a.m., radio station WTOP reported.
Created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, "Hamilton" is based on Ron Chernow's biography of Alexander Hamilton, a protege of George Washington, rival to Thomas Jefferson and America's first Treasury secretary. The play became a smash hit on Broadway and swept the Tony Awards.
Ticket prices for Monday’s public sale ranged from $99 to $199 with premium seats at $625, WTOP reported. There also will be 40 orchestra seats available for $10, but details will be announced at a later date.
