WASHINGTON, DC — Homes on the market in the D.C. area include a huge city lot with renowned gardens on a property once owned by the garden editor of The Washington Post.

In Northern Virginia, the restored Alexandria home of Gen. Light Horse Harry Lee is on the market for $2.25 million. Lee served in the army during Revolutionary War and went on to become Continental Congress delegate, congressman, state delegate and governor of Virginia, while his son Robert E. Lee went on to command the Confederate forces during the Civil War.

A home that once belonged to Gen. Light Horse Harry Lee is one of Alexandria's most storied properties on the real estate market. This five-bedroom federal row house was built in 1780 and was home to Lee in the early 1800s. Lee served in the army during Revolutionary War and went on to become Continental Congress delegate, congressman, state delegate and governor of Virginia, while his son, Robert E. Lee, went on to command the Confederate forces during the Civil War.
